GMC Denali XT Hybrid - Sunday, October 26, 2008
Toyota and Honda will not remain without a replica in the so called "soft-truck" segment (trucks with civilized look and construction similar to a normal car), GM coming with a interesting concept called GMC Denali XT Hybrid.
The concept is 5.21 m long and 3.13 m wheelbase (we can say that it has the dimensions of a normal European van) and it is propelled by a hybrid two-mode type engine, developed by GM with BMW and Daimler.
As technical platform, Americans have used the one from Holden VE Commodore Sportwagon, which means that this truck has on the basis a self-chassis, a train running with adjustable independent suspension and traction on the back wheels.
Judging by its design, this concept seems to be a sport one, but its builders were more interested in protecting the planet, equipping it with a V8 engine of 4.9 liter, direct injection and technology of deactivating the cylinders. This concept can also run with bioethanol.
Helped by the electric component as well, it can provide a fuel economy up to 50% compared with an usual V8 truck.

General Motors could sell the trucks division to Isuzu Motors, the second largest producer of trucks in Japan, against the amount of 100 million dollars.
Although the analysts anticipated this thing, it is still not sure if the American brand will sell all the facilities that belong to GMC or will keep the factory in Michigan.
The information recorded by Mediafax appeared in a Japanese newspaper, but the company management said that there's no deal between GMC and Isuzu. Pretty weird, huh? "GMC hasn't contacted the company regarding such a transaction", said Yukiko Okazaki, Isuzu Motors spokesman.
GM produces cars and trucks in 35 countries, but the former world number 1 is severely affected by the depreciation of the dollar and more than this, the automotive industry isn't doing some good at the moment, in the U.S. On the other hand, Isuzu Motors shares have risen with 10,5%, up to 336 yens / unit.

The strange orange concept presented by Scion at New York is inspired by the famous "cube on wheels" xB, but the Japanese have not yet the courage to launch it in series, stating that this is just a design exercise. Basically, they didn't even equipped the concept with an engine. Anyway, I can't say that a model like this would be a real big hit on the market.
Although from distance you wouldn't notice, Hake is made of some artistic contradictions, you only have to look at the strange mix of straight lines and curves to understand this. Then, although the front appears to have the aerodynamics of a concrete slab, the Japanese said that the side mirrors are inspired by the world of race cars and the vertical windshield gives the car a warrior attitude on street. Okay, I won't disagree or agree with what the officials said, although there's a big question mark in my head right now. But, this concept has some interesting things too, for example the seats which are dressed with a easy to clean material, and the driver's cockpit is inspired by the world of computer games, the gear shift having the shape of a joystick. And not just for the show: Hako is chockfull of the latest electronics, from Bluetooth to TV monitors mounted in the doors.

Does anyone still think at something like this? It seems so, the Americans from Mopar Enthusiast have made a Plymouth concept equipped with a V8 Hemi engine of 5.7 liters. Probably gas.
Although it is easily seen that the point of departure was a Dodge Challenger, Plymouth Road Runner Concept comes with many design elements inspired by the 1971 and 1972 Road Runner models. If regarding the exterior we let you to appreciate, we are 100% sure that its motorization will satisfy many car enthusiasts. You can choose between a 5.7l, 6.1l or 7.0l V8 Hemi.
Anyway, be ready to spend some good bucks for the gas. I will be honest with you, 7.0l consumes a lot!

Lamborghini comes to the Paris Auto Show with a limo 4 seats and doors concept, equipped with a V12 engine positioned on the front deck. The car will be ready for appearing on the market within a year and will go on the super exclusive segment along with Porsche Panamera, Aston Martin Rapide. In order to respect its exclusive character, Lamborghini limo will have permanent integral traction.
Some sources from Volkswagen say that the car was developed under the direct supervision of Ferdinand Piech, head of Porsche, company that has control under the Volkswagen group. The limo is built on a platform developed by Audi, platform that which also suits to Audi A7.

Jeep will present its new concept, Renegade, at the Auto Show in Detroit, next year.
Jeep Renegade concept is a car of small dimensions (3.8 meters long, 1.5 meters wide, 1.4 meters tall) with sporting values, which can carry 2 adults. Built in order to resist at any type of land, Renegade Concept seems to be the future off-road car. To demonstrate its care for nature and earth, the ones from Jeep have used all kinds of technical tricks that reduce consumption of construction materials. This way, the windshield is small like one from a speedster, and the two doors are being cut at the bottom.
More than this, the hybrid propulsion system came to strengthen the "green car" appearance of this concept. Jeep Renegade received a BLUETEC diesel engine, charged by a pack of lithium-ion batteries. The result of this system is a consumption of 2,13 liters/100 km.

While Daewoo has almost disappeared from the Western world as a brand, in South Korea the manufacturer now relies on luxury models.
Daewoo Veritas isn't an entirely new model, it is more a remake for the Koreans of the Holden Caprice model, which is an elongated version of the Pontiac G8. The Korean limo was first shown at the Auto Show from Seoul and it is dedicated for the higher class in Korea.
Under the bonnet, this model hides a V6 engine of 3.6 liters, linked to an automatic box in 5 steps. Veritas clearly breaths a premium air, making life easier with its interior LCDs, massage chairs and a lot of leather. The price is pretty small for such accessories, it costs somewhere between 29,000 euro and 36,000 euro.
